The route is gentle and short, with a rest pavilion partway, and from the top you are rewarded with a wide, open panorama of Taihu Lake. A small temple at the summit offers a peaceful spot to pause.

Coming down, you explore Luxiang Ancient Village, founded in the Southern Song dynasty over 800 years ago. Wander its flagstone lanes, admire the Ming-era memorial archways and beautifully preserved ancestral halls, and feel the rhythm of genuine old village life away from the tourist crowds.

As the day softens you head to a lakeside cafe to settle in and wait for the famous "orange sea" sunset over Taihu Lake – the perfect, restful end to the day before your private car returns you to your hotel.
