About This Tour

Yellow Mountain's "four wonders" are pines, rocks, clouds, and hot springs — this tour focuses on the first two. Visit named ancient pines including Welcome Pine (~800 years old, the symbol of China itself), Black Tiger Pine, Lying Dragon Pine, and Sleeping Pine. Geology stops cover the granite peaks formed 130 million years ago, the cracking patterns that give Huangshan its angular dragon-tooth shape, and the hoodoos at Flying Rock. Guide explains why pines grow horizontally from cliff faces (root grip strategy) and the difference between Yellow Mountain pine vs. mainland pine species.
